The 15th India-US Joint Special Forces Exercise, VAJRA PRAHAR, began on 2 November at the Orchard Combat Training Centre in Idaho, USA, and is a critical event in developing military cooperation between the two countries. This gruelling drill, which runs until the 22nd of this month, brings together elite soldiers from both countries, including India's Special forces and the United States Army's Green Berets.
This year's VAJRA PRAHAR follows last year's iteration in Umroi, Meghalaya. It is the second major joint exercise between India and the United States Army this year, following YUDH ABHYAS 2024 in Rajasthan in September. Each country will send a 45-member detachment to demonstrate its commitment to military cooperation.
The exercise aims to improve interoperability, collaboration, and exchanging specialized operational methods. Both armies will work to enhance their collaborative capabilities, notably in arid and semi-desert situations, which are essential to training in Idaho. VAJRA PRAHAR will focus on physical conditioning, cooperative mission planning, and advanced tactical manoeuvres to strengthen each nation's ability to conduct coordinated Special Forces operations.
This joint exercise showcases India and the United States' expanding strategic alliance, reflecting a shared vision of improved regional security and readiness for various operational problems.
