Indian Army Day 2025 celebrations: A showcase of warfare evolution in Pune; Rajnath Singh to be present

The Indian Army will observe its 77th Army Day on January 15, 2025, with a magnificent spectacle in Pune. The highlight of the event, 'Gaurav Gatha,' a light and sound performance that will portray the progression of Indian warfare from ancient times to the current period, will be attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The ceremony will take place at the Bhagat Pavilion of the Bombay Engineers Group (BEG), part of the Army's Southern Command.

The event uses cutting-edge laser and multimedia technologies to bring themes like 'Prachin Ranniti,' 'Yudh Kala,' and 'Vijayotsav,' inspired by the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and current wars, to life. The celebration will honour famous warriors such as Lord Ram, Chhatrapati Shivaji, and liberation fighters Mangal Pandey and Bhagat Singh.

Prior to the concert, a parade themed 'Samarth Bharat, Saksham Sena' will be held in Pune. It will showcase unique attractions such as the Nepal Army band, an all-girl NCC group, and robotic mules.

Defence Minister Singh will also meet Marie (brave women) and veterans, launch an app, and digitally set the groundwork for an Army Paralympic Node.

Indian Army Day commemorates the transfer of leadership from British General Francis Butcher to Lieutenant General KM Cariappa on January 15, 1949, which marked a watershed point in Indian history.
