Indian Army, Air Force Sign MoU with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya for Enhanced Logistics Expertise

The Indian Army and Indian Air Force have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Vadodara, in a significant move to enhance the Indian Armed Forces' logistics capabilities. The agreement aims to improve the logistical capacities of both services in line with India's strategic goals under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan 2021 and the National Logistics Policy 2022.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, IT and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan attended the New Delhi ceremony to ratify the MoU. The alliance is a concerted effort to reinforce India's military's operational backbone, enabling the rapid movement of troops, equipment, and supplies over rugged terrains.

Defence Minister Singh emphasized the significance of a robust logistics system for national security, emphasizing self-sufficiency in training and resource allocation. He praised the MoU as a critical step toward achieving "Aatmanirbharta" (self-reliance), saying, "An efficient logistics system is essential for quickly mobilizing forces and delivering resources where they are needed most."

Ashwini Vaishnaw also expressed hope about Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya's role in providing advanced logistics education to the Armed Forces, bridging the gap between academic understanding and real-world applications. The institution, focusing only on transportation and logistics, is expected to be essential in teaching workers and expanding India's logistical skills across multiple industries.

With this MoU, the Indian Army and Air Force will benefit from cutting-edge logistical training and research, bolstering the country's defence capability.
