India has strengthened its defence cooperation with Nepal by providing target practice drones to improve Nepal's defence training and operational capabilities. This gesture demonstrates New Delhi's commitment to helping Nepal modernize and strengthen its defence capabilities.
On a four-day visit to India, Nepali Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel met with Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi in Delhi. During the discussions, India also provided modern medical equipment to strengthen Nepal's field hospital systems and readiness.
General Sigdel paid respects to Indian soldiers at the National War Memorial and received a ceremonial guard of honour. His schedule included high-level briefings on India's developing defense strategy and advances from the Army Design Bureau. The discussions focused on regional security concerns and potential collaboration, strengthening bilateral ties.
General Sigdel met with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to discuss regional concerns and industry collaborations that support India's Atmanirbhar Bharat agenda. On Thursday, he would get the honorary rank of Indian Army General at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
This historic visit and India's proactive defence support demonstrate the two countries' strengthening cooperation in achieving regional stability and common security interests.
