India Army to Commemorate 62nd Anniversary of Battle of Walong

As India commemorates the 62nd anniversary of the pivotal Battle of Walong, a significant chapter in the 1962 Sino-Indian War, the Indian Army is set to launch a month-long series of events from October 17, 2024. This historic Battle, fought in the rugged terrain of Arunachal Pradesh, saw Indian soldiers display unparalleled courage in the face of overwhelming odds.

The memorial activities, designed to engage and involve local communities, will pay homage to the fallen warriors. The program includes various events such as whitewater rafting, motorbike and bicycle rallies, battlefield tours, and a half-marathon. These events not only serve as a tribute to the Indian Army's indomitable spirit but also as a platform for community participation.

Medical and veterinary camps will also serve rural settlements, strengthening the relationship between the Army and the local populace. The commemorations will culminate on November 14, 2024, with the inauguration of the reconstructed Walong War Memorial, cultural performances, and a wreath-laying ceremony.

The month-long events will serve as a reminder of the soldiers' efforts while inspiring future generations to uphold the virtues of service and sacrifice, ensuring that the Battle of Walong's legacy lives on.
