Army To Showcase Surveillance Systems, "Pralay" Missiles For 1st Time On R-Day Parade

The Indian Army plans to include two breakthrough aspects in the Republic Day Parade 2025: battlefield monitoring technologies and a DRDO tableau exhibiting the "Pralay," a short-range ballistic missile. During a press briefing, Major General Sumit Mehta emphasized that including these modern technologies represents a huge step forward in India's defense capabilities.

The DRDO tableau, titled "Raksha Kavach—Multi-layer Protection against Multi-domain Threats," will feature advancements such as Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missiles, satellite-based surveillance systems, modern artillery, and Indigenous weapons. These additions highlight India's progress in defence research and self-reliance through the Make in India initiative.

Around 5,000 artists will perform along the ceremonial route to increase cultural participation and assure visibility for all attendees. This modification attempts to give a more inclusive watching experience, moving from previous norms that limited performances to the area surrounding the presidential box.

The Indonesian President's attendance as principal guest for the fourth time heightens the event's prominence. The Beating Retreat ceremony on January 29 will feature performances by bands from the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and CAPF, with 29 distinct tunes and formations.

The Republic Day Parade 2025 promises to be a spectacular exhibition of India's cultural richness and military power, commemorating 75 years of constitutional legislation.
